Fatal traffic accident in Peak

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Peak yesterday (July 30) in which a 59-year-old woman died.

     At about 7.15pm, when a private car driven by a 67-year-old man was leaving a petrol station on Peak Road, it reportedly collided with a public light bus (PLB), which was travelling along eastbound Peak Road, and fell down a slope.
  
     The private car driver and a 59-year-old female passenger, who were trapped inside the compartment and later rescued by firemen, sustained serious head injuries. The female passenger was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 7.50pm. The male driver was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in conscious state for medical treatment. The 54-year-old male PLB driver and the 16 passengers were not injured.

     The 54-year-old PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
