Contractor fined for violation of occupational safety legislation

New Generation Indoor Service Co was fined $69,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates’ Courts today (July 22) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Electricity) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 6, 2015 on a construction site in Tai O. A worker was electrocuted and fell from a straight ladder while installing air-conditioners at the external wall of a two-storey village house.
