Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for tram track renewal work in Western District from next Monday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (July 21) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work will be implemented in Western District from 10am next Monday (July 25) to 10am on August 22.
 
     The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
 
Temporary traffic arrangements
-------------------------------------
 
* The southern kerbside of Des Voeux Road West from its junction with Whitty Street to a point about 40 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily designated as a restricted zone 24 hours a day; 
 
* The northern kerbside of Des Voeux Road West from a point about 15m west of its junction with Whitty Street to a point about 45m west of the same junction will be temporarily designated as a restricted zone 24 hours a day;

* The western kerbside of Whitty Street from its junction with Des Voeux Road West to a point about 10m north of the same junction will be temporarily designated as a restricted zone 24 hours a day; and
 
* All vehicles (except trams) will be prohibited from entering the offside lane of Des Voeux Road West westbound from a point about 35m west of its junction with Whitty Street to a point about 10m east of the same junction.
 
Temporary transport arrangements

* The bus stops of Cross Harbour Routes No. 113, 811, 904, 905, 930A and 971; Citybus Routes No. 1, 5B and 43M; and New World First Bus Routes No. 18P and 18X on Des Voeux Road West westbound opposite Lun Fung Court will be temporarily relocated about 40m westward; and
 
* The green minibus stop of Route No. 12 on Des Voeux Road West eastbound near Lun Fung Court will be temporarily relocated about 10m westward.
 
     Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers on the above public transport arrangements.
   
     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
