CS visits Department of Health (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited the Department of Health (DH) this morning (July 20) to better understand the work of the department. She also toured the Fanling Health Centre (FHC) and meet front-line healthcare staff. 
      
       Mrs Lam started her visit by meeting the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan, and other senior officials of the DH.  She was given an introduction on the department’s key work areas as well as the services provided by the FHC, including families clinic services for civil servants and their dependants as well as comprehensive assessment services for children with special needs.
 
       Accompanied by Dr Chan, Mrs Lam then toured the Fanling Families Clinic (FC) on the eighth floor of the FHC. She was briefed on the facilities of the clinic, the arrangement of appointment booking, the use of the Automated Telephone Booking System and the operation of the Pharmaceuticals Inventory and Dispensary System.  The Fanling FC started operation in March this year.  In addition to clinic services, it also provides clinical psychology services
 
       Mrs Lam then visited the Fanling Child Assessment Centre (CAC) located on the fourth floor of the FHC.  She was briefed on the comprehensive assessment services provided for children with special needs, including the arrangements for assessment appointments, procedures for assessment and referral as well as interim support services provided for parents. Mrs Lam was also given a tour of the facilities of the Fanling CAC including different types of assessment tools that were jointly developed by the Child Assessment Service (CAS) of the DH and local universities, as well as a series of public education publications produced by CAS. 
 
       During the visit, Mrs Lam also chatted with front-line staff to learn more about their daily work. Mrs Lam commended the DH for its efforts to safeguard the health of the people of Hong Kong through the provision of public health services and implementation of various schemes to enhance primary care services. She encouraged the staff of the DH to keep up the good spirit, professionalism and dedication to serve the community.
