CE condemns violent attack in Würzburg, Germany

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (July 19) condemned the attack in Würzburg, Germany. A family of five Hong Kong residents were on the train in which the attack took place and four of them were injured. The Chief Executive expressed concern for the injured Hong Kong residents, and extended his sympathies to the victims and their families.

     The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has contacted the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Germany and the Embassy of Germany in Beijing to understand and follow up on the case. Representatives from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin are visiting the injured Hong Kong residents in Würzburg. Officers of the Immigration Department will accompany family members of the injured Hong Kong residents to Würzburg and provide all practical assistance with the local Chinese Embassy.
