Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (July 16) seized about 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine in Tuen Mun. The market value of the drugs was about $1.25 million.

     During an anti-narcotic operation in Tuen Mun yesterday evening, Customs officers intercepted a woman near the Tuen Mun Pier Bus Terminus and found about 1.2 kg of suspected cocaine concealed in her suitcase she was carrying. The woman, aged 53, was arrested.

     The arrested woman will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. She will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (July 18).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence.  The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
