Fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong

      Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong this afternoon (July 9) in which an 84-year-old man died.

      About 4.40pm, a heavy-goods-vehicle (HGV) driven by a 57-year-old man was travelling along Cha Kwo Ling Rd towards Lei Yue Mun Road. It reportedly knocked down the 84-year-old man who was crossing the road. After the impact, the HGV left the scene.
      Sustaining multiple injuries, the male pedestrian was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.18pm.
      The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after a traffic accident and failing to report after a traffic accident. He is being detained for enquiries.
      Active investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East is underway.
