Transcript of remarks by CS at media session (with video)
*********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after a Pledging Ceremony organised by the Commission on Poverty at Central Government Offices, Tamar today (July 9):

Reporter: Are you confident that there will be enough time left for discussing the remaining legislation before this current session ends?

Chief Secretary for Administration: I am not confident at all, that's why I am speaking to the people of Hong Kong through the media, because we have only one single meeting left to discuss not only the Medical Registration (Amendment) Bill, but the other two bills, which are equally important livelihood matters. This last meeting we probably have about thirty hours for Members to discuss the bill and other Legislative Council matters. But judging from the experience that we had, the last meeting, during which half of the discussion time was spent on filibustering, on calling of quorum. If that sort of approach continues, I am not confident at all that we could have the legislation passed in the current legislative session, that's why I make a final appeal to Dr Leung Ka-lau that he should take the interest of society and the interest of patients to heart, and allow this piece of legislation to go through the Legislative Council.

     Thank you very much.
