2016 Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters competition results announced (with photos)

     The results of the 2016 Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters competition have been announced, with a total of 116 artworks by 11 award winners and 93 participants selected. Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the competition attracted 276 entrants with 380 tea sets submitted. The number of entrants is the highest ever recorded in the competition's history.

     The local adjudication panel included Mr Alan Chan, Dr Fung Siu-han, Mr Ho Tai-kwan and Ms Wan Lai-kuen. The museum also invited for the first time Mr Chee Jung-sien, an expert in tea and tea ware from Taiwan, to join the adjudication panel.

     The competition was divided into a School Category and an Open Category. The selection criteria covered the entries' originality, creativity, technical competence and functionality. The winners are as follows:

     An exhibition will be held at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in December 2016. It will feature 116 selected tea sets, including all the winning entries and other selected entries, offering members of the public an opportunity to appreciate the works of local potters.
