CSSA caseload for May

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May showed a drop of 460 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to that of April, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 22).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 241 848 (see attached table), with a total of 358 860 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.3 per cent and 1.1 per cent to 5 874 cases and 15 485 cases respectively, while single parent cases dropped by 0.3 per cent to 27 995 cases.

     Old age cases and permanent disability cases both decreased by 0.1 per cent to 145 743 and 17 766 cases respectively.

     Ill health cases remained steady at 24 390 cases.
