Twenty-one building plans approved in April

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in April, with six on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 11 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and two were for community services development.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 24 388 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 584 units, and 92 070 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits, with eight on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 53 203 sq m, involving 530 units, and 70 937 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in April totalled about $4.4 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 066 reports about unauthorised building works in April, and issued 1 080 removal orders on unauthorised works.
