The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man (third left), today (June 6) convened a meeting of the steering committee on response level under the Preparedness Plan for Influenza Pandemic to follow up on a case in which a sample of faecal droppings of live poultry taken from Yan Oi Market in Tuen Mun tested positive of the H7N9 avian influenza virus. Attending the meeting are representatives from the Food and Health Bureau, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Department of Health, the Hospital Authority, and the Chair Professor of Infectious Diseases, Department of Microbiology of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, Professor Yuen Kwok-yung.
