Hong Kong Customs smashed a suspected crack cocaine manufacturing centre early this morning (June 4) and seized about 670 grammes of suspected crack cocaine at Western District and arrested a man. The estimated market value of the drug was about one million.
During an anti-narcotics operation early this morning, Customs officers intercepted a man at Western District. Upon search of his reported premises, suspected drug manufacturing tools and about 670 grammes of suspected crack cocaine were found.
The arrested man, aged 37 and claimed to be unemployed, was charged with one count of manufacture of dangerous drug and will appear at Eastern Magistrates' Courts on June 6.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, manufacture of dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty of offence is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
