Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sheung Shui last night (May 29) in which an 83-year-old man died.
At about 8.50pm yesterday, a private car driven by a 30-year-old man was travelling along Wo Muk Road towards Fan Leng Lau Road. When reaching near Wo Muk Road Playground, it reportedly knocked down the 83-year-old man who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.25pm.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
