Fatal traffic accident in Airport

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Airport District this morning (May 29) in which a 62-year-old man died.

     About 11.36am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 62-year-old man was travelling along Airport Road towards the airport. When reaching near a slip road to Chun Wan Road Interchange, the LGV reportedly lost control and collided with some water barriers, lights and a signage on roadside. The driver and a 51-year-old male passenger were trapped inside the compartment and were rescued by firemen.

     Sustaining serious injuries to his chest and legs, the driver was rushed to North Lantau Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 1.20pm. The passenger sustained injuries to his forehead and limb, and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state for medical treatment.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
