The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) issued the following update today (May 17) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Multi-Drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a male orthopaedics and traumatology ward:
The hospital has continued with the screening procedures and confirmed one more 78-year-old male patient to have Multi-Drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA). He is now hospitalised and under isolated medical surveillance, and is in a stable condition.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up. The hospital will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation.
