The delegation led by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, concluded its visit in Sichuan today (May 12).

In the morning, Mrs Lam gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the "SmartHK, Chengdu" fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The event, which features an exhibition, business matching and networking activities, forums and a series of thematic seminars, showcases the strengths of Hong Kong's various professional services. More than 150 Hong Kong enterprises have joined the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Mrs Lam said, "Hong Kong is an international city and a service-oriented economy. It has also established itself as an international financial and trading centre with a free flow of information, a business-friendly environment, sound legal and judicial systems, industrial standards aligned with international ones, highly efficient professional services, good international networks and more. Together with the wealth of experience and knowledge it has accumulated, Hong Kong is definitely an ideal platform for Mainland provinces and municipalities including Sichuan to pursue the strategies of 'attracting foreign investment' and 'going global', allowing Mainland enterprises to engage themselves globally and seize business opportunities."

Mrs Lam then toured the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and visited the Chengdu Planning Exhibition Hall to gain a better understanding of the latest developments in Chengdu.

Mrs Lam and the delegation left Chengdu in the afternoon and returned to Hong Kong.
