Clinic service on Birthday of the Buddha holiday

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson today (May 12) reminded the public that 13 general out-patient clinics (see appended list) will continue to provide services on the Birthday of the Buddha holiday this Saturday (May 14). Members of the public requiring medical consultation can make advance booking through the telephone system as usual for an appointment.

The Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments in public hospitals will also operate as usual during the holiday to serve patients with urgent medical needs. The spokesperson said that in view of the expected increase in A&E attendance during the holiday, priority treatment would be accorded to critical and emergency patients under the established triage system. The queuing time for the semi-urgent and non-urgent patients might be longer than usual.

The spokesperson appealed to the public for understanding and co-operation while waiting for consultation. Non-urgent patients should consider seeking consultation at general out-patient clinics, private doctors or the 24-hour clinics of private hospitals.

Public information on holiday clinic services within the district will be posted at prominent locations in all A&E Departments. Members of the public are also welcome to call the HA Infoline (2882 4866) for the service information on holiday general out-patient clinics, browse the Primary Care Directory of the Department of Health at, or download the mobile app "Primary Care Directory" to choose the appropriate family medicine doctor and the related clinic service information.
