Attention TV/radio announcers:

Please broadcast the following as soon as possible:

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 15) that the red tides found in water off Silver Mine Bay Beach, Pui O Beach, Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Tong Fuk Beach in Islands District have dissipated.

Since the water off Pui O Beach, Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Tong Fuk Beach is now suitable for swimming, the red flags have been lowered.

However, since the Environmental Protection Department has classified the water quality at Silver Mine Bay Beach as Grade 4, which means the beach is not suitable for swimming, the red flag remains hoisted. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beach until further notice.
