The Government today (April 15) announced the appointments of Dr Lam Ching-choi as the Chairman and Dr Vivian Lou Wei-qun as a member of the Elderly Commission. The appointments will take effect from April 20, 2016, to July 29, 2018.
Dr Lam is the Chief Executive Officer of the Haven of Hope Christian Service. He is dedicated to enhancing elderly welfare and has been actively involved in improving long-term care services for the elderly. Dr Lam has been serving as the Vice-chairman of the Elderly Commission since July 2011.
Dr Lou is the Director of Sau Po Centre on Ageing at the University of Hong Kong. She is currently a member of the Social Work Training Fund Committee.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments. He said, "The new Chairman and member are both well experienced in elderly services. I look forward to working closely with them on the development of elderly services and promotion of the well-being of the elderly in Hong Kong."
Mr Cheung also thanked Professor Alfred Chan Cheung-ming, the outgoing Chairman, for his sterling contribution during his tenure.
