Caritas Medical Centre announces incident of water seepage due to bursting of water pipe

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesman for Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) made the following announcement today (April 5) regarding an incident of water seepage at Wai Ming Block due to the bursting of a hot water pipe this morning:
     At around 8am today, a hot water pipe at the ceiling in the Kowloon West Cluster Eye Centre located on the second floor of Wai Ming Block was found ruptured with water seepage to an extensive area of the Eye Centre. The incident also affected the Day Surgery Centre on the first floor. Emergency repair and cleaning were immediately arranged by the hospital. The repair work was completed at around noon and the services of the Eye Centre and the Day Surgery Centre resumed in the afternoon.

     Emergency services at the Eye Centre were maintained during the water seepage incident. However, around 250 out-patient appointments have to be rescheduled and the patients concerned have already been informed. Regarding the services in the Day Surgery Centre, four appointments in the morning session have been rescheduled while operations for a further four patients in the afternoon session have been rearranged to the operating theatre in Wai Shun Block.

     The hospital would like to extend deep apologies to the affected patients for any inconvenience caused. Patients of the Eye Centre may call 3408 7070 during the office hours for further enquiries.
