Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central

     The Transport Department (TD) today (April 5) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central from this Friday (April 8) to Sunday (April 10) to facilitate the holding of rugby matches at the Hong Kong Stadium.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

* From about 6pm to 5am of the following day on Friday (April 8), and from about 5pm to 5am of the following day on Saturday and Sunday (April 9 and 10), the section of D'Aguilar Street between Wyndham Street and Wellington Street, Lan Kwai Fong, Wing Wah Lane and Wo On Lane will be closed.

* From about 11am on Friday, and from about 7am on Saturday and Sunday, the section of Caroline Hill Road northbound between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 8.30pm on Friday, and from about 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Eastern Hospital Road service road, Cotton Path, Link Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators, until the crowd has dispersed and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Routes 5B, 37A, 75, 90 and 97; New World First Bus Route 590A; Cross Harbour Routes 601, 678, 680 and 936; Green Minibus Routes 14M, 26 and 30; and Residents' Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* Free shuttle bus service will be operated from Hong Kong Stadium to Lan Kwai Fong and MTR Admiralty Station after the event. Franchised buses of Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from the Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok after the event.

* On-street parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
