Police and ImmD meet with Lee Po in Hong Kong
*********************************************

Immigration Department (ImmD) and Police met and took statement separately with Lee Po who had returned to Hong Kong from the Mainland this afternoon (March 24) for further investigation.

ImmD was notified by the Shenzhen exit and entry authority today that Lee Po would be handed over to ImmD. Immigration officers received Lee Po at Lok Ma Chau Control Point this afternoon.

Upon completion of arrival clearance for Lee Po, an Immigration officer took a statement with him to enquire about the details of his last departure. As Lee Po did not provide thorough information about his last departure, no arrest has been made against him at this stage. ImmD needs to conduct further investigation to ascertain if there is any prima facie evidence showing that he has committed any immigration offences. Following the interview by ImmD, Police conducted another interview with Lee Po.

Lee Po told Police that to assist in an investigation of a case relating to a person surnamed Gui, he, with the assistance of his friends, returned to the Mainland by his own means voluntarily and it was not an abduction. He stated that he was free and safe whist on the Mainland. He restated his request for the cancellation of his missing person case and he did not require assistance from the Special Administrative Region Government or Police. He refused to disclose other details. After meeting with Police, Lee Po left on his own.

Police will continue to follow through with the remaining missing person case with the Interpol Guangdong Liaison Office of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department for further details. ImmD, meanwhile, will continue to follow up the case and seek advice from the Department of Justice after completion of investigation.
