More than 1 100 students from 25 schools joined the activity Jockey Club Mosaiculture Display by Students at Victoria Park today (February 27). Under the guidance of some 150 green volunteers, they worked together to help put up the spectacular mosaiculture display "Nature as Art".
The display is embellished with more than 30 000 colourful flowering plants of various species including myosotis, chrysanthemum, carnation, kalanchoe and more.
The display features different creatures to showcase the beauty of nature. The plant sculptures include an eagle, giraffes, deer, rabbits, horses and birds. The sea of theme flowers provides a colourful background for contrasts in the animal kingdom, such as the herd versus the loner, and the lively versus the sedate. The display will be exhibited in the coming Hong Kong Flower Show.
The flower show, one of events in the second batch of 10 Highlight Events under the "Appreciate Hong Kong" Campaign, will be held for 10 days from March 11 to 20 from 9am to 9pm daily in Victoria Park. It will feature "Blossoms in Vivid Art 2016" as the main theme and with the Antirrhinum majus as the theme flower.
In addition to this year's theme flower and other flowering plants, the event will showcase a rich profusion of exquisite potted plants, beautiful floral arrangements and gorgeous landscape displays by local, Mainland and overseas organisations. There will also be commercial stalls selling flowers, horticultural products and fast food. A rich diversity of educational and recreational fringe activities will also be organised for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages.
Admission tickets for the flower show are available for sale now until March 20 at the District Leisure Services Offices of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).
