CSSA caseload for January

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January showed a drop of 618 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared to that of December 2015, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (February 24).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of January stood at 243 477 (see attached table), with a total of 363 250 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7 per cent to 16 061 cases. Low-earnings cases dropped by 1.2 per cent to 6 256 cases. Single parent cases and permanent disability cases both showed a decrease of 0.4 per cent to 28 292 cases and 17 850 cases respectively. Old age cases also dropped by 0.1 per cent to 146 008 cases.

     Ill health cases remained steady at 24 460 cases.
