SED to visit Beijing

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will visit Beijing tomorrow (January 28) to exchange views on education with officials of the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.

     During the meetings, Mr Ng will introduce the education initiatives in the 2016 Policy Address, such as free quality kindergarten education, expanding the subsidy scope of the Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme, and promoting interflows between sister schools in Hong Kong and the Mainland.

     Officials accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to Beijing will include Deputy Secretaries for Education Mr Brian Lo and Dr Catherine KK Chan, and the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Rick Chan. They will depart for Beijing this evening (January 27) and return to Hong Kong tomorrow night.

     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
