CSSA caseload for December 2015

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2015 showed a drop of 950 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent compared to that of November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 20).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 244 095 (see attached table), with a total of 364 846 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, both unemployment cases and low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.9 per cent to 16 332 cases and 6 335 cases respectively. Single parent cases and ill health cases both dropped by 0.5 per cent to 28 403 cases and 24 458 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases showed a decrease of 0.3 per cent to 17 914 cases and old age cases dropped by 0.1 per cent to 146 083 cases.
