Government proposes to carry out reclamation works in northeast Tung Chung

     The Government proposes to carry out reclamation works within an area of about 200 hectares of foreshore and seabed to the northeast of Tung Chung to provide land for the Tung Chung New Town extension and construction of Road P1 (Tung Chung - Tai Ho Section) joining the North Lantau Highway.

     The proposed works include construction of seawall of about 4.9 kilometres; filling of seabed to form about 129 hectares of land; and demolition of the existing Pak Mong Pier and reprovisioning of landing steps in the new seawall nearby. The proposed works are planned to commence in late 2017 for completion by end-2023.

     The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published today (January 8) in the Government Gazette (www.gld.gov.hk/egazette/pdf/20162001/egn2016200185.pdf).

     The notice together with its related plan is posted on notice boards near the site. The plan can also be seen at the following locations:

     Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong, by March 8, 2016.
