Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the tourism industry at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (January 7):

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: The Travel Industry Council (of Hong Kong) is the only approved organisation under the Ordinance (Travel Agents Ordinance). And I have just stated in Chinese that the Police and the Tourism Commission as well as the Travel Industry Council (of Hong Kong) have taken concerted effort today in dealing with these suspected activities against the Ordinance. Therefore, we will do our utmost to ensure that all these activities are conducted in accordance with the law to ensure that the interest of the tourists as well as the overall development of our tourism industry will be protected.
