SED mourns passing of Dr Elsie Tu

The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, today (December 8) expressed deep condolence over the passing of Dr Elsie Tu, and gratitude for her contribution towards education in Hong Kong.

Mr Ng said that back in the 1950s, when education was not yet universal and people at the grassroots level lacked education opportunities, Dr Tu founded Mu Kuang English School to serve the needs of society. The school had nurtured thousands of young people over the decades and made significant contributions to the community. Dr Tu had also commented on education issues from time to time, showing her ongoing passion for education.

Mr Ng said he believed that people of all walks of life in Hong Kong, especially the education sector and her students, will remember Dr Tu and her contributions forever.
