Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session before the Executive Council meeting this morning (November 24):
Reporter: As the umbrella soldiers gained significant victory in the District Election, especially some localists, do you think the public opinion are more inclined to this direction? And secondly, how optimistic the Government is in recruiting or ... persuading some lost candidates in taking part in the Government?
Chief Executive: Well, firstly, we congratulate all the District Council Election candidates who were successful in last Sunday's District Council Election. And we also welcome all candidates, particularly young candidates in this election to join government committees and boards to continue to serve the community whether as District Council members. If you look at the result of last Sunday¡¦s election, the result actually represents a very very broad spectrum of views, which is very much a representation of the Hong Kong society.
