Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (November 21):
Reporter: What is your reaction towards the medical incident happened at North District Hospital?
Secretary for Food and Health: It is very regrettable that a serious medical incident happened. The hospital concerned has already apologised to the patient's family. It is also their responsibility to provide whatever assistance to the family. At the same time, the Hospital Authority (HA) has announced that there will be an independent investigation. I am of the view that the HA must look into two particular aspects, namely the required double-check procedure for medication, especially high-risk medication, and the supervision of healthcare workers in learning.
