CSSA caseload for October

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a drop of 1 011 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent compared to that of September, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 18).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 246 092 (see attached table), with a total of 367 108 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7 per cent to
6 580 cases; unemployment and single parent cases dropped by 1.5 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 16 991 cases and 28 728 cases respectively. Old age and permanent disability cases both showed a decrease of 0.2 per cent to 146 404 cases and 18 030 cases respectively. Ill health cases also decreased by 0.1 per cent to 24 695 cases.
