Government closely monitors and assesses the latest development in Paris, France

     Concerning the serious attacks in Paris, France, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has been closely liaising with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong (OCMFA), the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in France (Embassy), the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong to understand the latest situation.

     The Security Bureau is closely monitoring the situation and development there. Any update will be issued through the media and the Bureau's OTA webpage (www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota).

     The Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit (AHU) of the Immigration Department (ImmD) has not received any assistance request so far. ImmD has issued messages through the Registration of Outbound Travel Information (ROTI) service to remind residents to contact AHU, and will maintain close contact with the aforesaid authorities to monitor the latest development. Hong Kong residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of AHU of ImmD at (852) 1868 or contact the Chinese Embassy in France at consular protection hotline: (33) 615742537.

     The Government urges those already there should attend to their personal safety, exercise caution, stay in safe areas and pay attention to announcements by local authorities.
