The Government announced today (October 30) the appointment of Mr Wilfred Wong Kam-pui as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents (ACTA) to succeed Dr Dennis Sun Tai-lun who has been steering the ACTA for the past six years. Ms Mandy Fung Yuen-han is appointed as a member of the ACTA to succeed Mr Wong. ACTA member Mr Anthony Lau Chun-hon is re-appointed. The above appointments will take effect on November 1, 2015, for a period of two years.
"We are grateful for Dr Sun's contribution to the ACTA in the past six years. We are glad to have Mr Wong succeeding Dr Sun's chairmanship. We also welcome Mr Lau's continued membership and Ms Fung's coming on board. We look forward to working closely with them and other fellow ACTA members to further promote the service quality of tourism in Hong Kong and the protection of outbound travellers from and visitors to Hong Kong," a Government spokesman said.
The ACTA is a statutory body established under section 7 of the Travel Agents Ordinance (TAO). It advises the Government on matters relating to the regulation of travel agents and issues affecting the interests of the travel trade and consumers. Appointments to the ACTA are made by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development under section 7(2) of the TAO, with authority delegated from the Chief Executive.
