The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a drop of 1 144 cases, representing a decrease of 0.5 per cent compared to that of August, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 21).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 247 103 (see attached table), with a total of 368 540 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.0 per cent to 6 693 cases; single parent and unemployment cases dropped by 1.1 per cent and 0.9 per cent to 28 941 cases and 17 252 cases respectively. Old age and permanent disability cases both showed a decrease of 0.3 per cent to 146 714 cases and 18 068 cases respectively. Ill health cases also decreased by 0.1 per cent to 24 712 cases.
