The Liaoning Liaison Unit (LLU) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) today (October 15) launched two cultural and creative events to showcase Hong Kong as a centre for creativity as well as a diversified platform for culture and arts to the residents of Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The two events are the "Creative Hong Kong" thematic exhibition and the 4th Hong Kong thematic film festival, entitled "Flashing Swords Flickering Shadow - a Revisit of Hong Kong Wuxia Cinema".
The Director of the LLU, Mr Kilian Tung, said today, "We hope to introduce Hong Kong to the residents of Shenyang from a different perspective, by showcasing the characteristics of Hong Kong as a centre for culture and creativity.
"Hong Kong is renowned for its achievements in creative industries. Creativity extends to the daily lives of Hong Kong people and nourishes the growth of the city. The exhibition creates an atmosphere in which visitors can experience Hong Kong's creative ambience. Whereas the film festival presents the best of Hong Kong's Wuxia cinema, the Shenyang audience will have a chance to revisit the classic martial arts films and come to appreciate the charisma of Hong Kong Wuxia films."
The uniquely designed "Creative Hong Kong" thematic exhibition was brought to Shenyang by the LLU, having regard to the popularity of the exhibition when it was staged in Tianjin and Beijing in June and July 2015 respectively, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The exhibition was designed and built by a noted Hong Kong brand to showcase the strengths of Hong Kong as a city for business, a centre for creativity, a diversified platform for culture and arts, and an environmentally friendly place for ideal living, using an innovative and lively approach. The exhibition is formed by two gourd-shaped dreamlike "hulu" houses and decorated with a number of human-sized figures based on the brand's leading characters. Visitors are welcome to take pictures with these figures. Creative souvenirs are also available for free distribution to visitors. To further enrich visitors' experience, "I Love Hong Kong" workshops will be held for free in the exhibition area for participants of all ages to join and create fabric dolls.
The exhibition will be held from today until October 18 from 10am to 10pm daily at the Atrium, Basement Level 1, Palace 66, 128 Zhongjie Lu, Shenhe District, Shenyang. Admission is free.
