The Labour Department (LD) will hold a public talk entitled "Work and General Diseases (Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension)" on October 19 (Monday). The talk will briefly introduce the symptoms and treatment of diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Emphasis will be given to health hints for working in hot environments, performing heavy manual work and working on irregular schedules, to promote the occupational health of employees with diabetes mellitus or hypertension.
The talk will be held at 3pm in the Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The LD's Occupational Health Nurse will give the talk.
The LD will hold another talk entitled "Manual Handling Operations and Prevention of Back Injuries" on October 30 (Friday), at which the causes of back injuries and preventive measures, as well as the proper manual handling operations, will be introduced.
The talk will be held at 3pm in Activity Room 1, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The LD's Occupational Health Nurse and Occupational Hygienist will give the talk.
The talks will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free.
