SED leads education delegation to Beijing

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will depart for Beijing tomorrow (September 28), leading the National Day Delegation from the Educational Sector of Hong Kong 2015 to participate in professional exchange activities and National Day celebrations.
     This is the 10th time the National Day Delegation from the Educational Sector of Hong Kong has been organised since 2006, with the aim of promoting exchanges and co-operation between education workers of Hong Kong and Beijing and enhancing Hong Kong education workers' understanding of the history, culture and latest developments of our country.

     More than 150 Hong Kong education workers will join the delegation this year, including representatives of tertiary institutions, principals and teachers of kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools.
     The delegation will visit a number of education institutions including Peking University as well as some kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools to learn more about our country's education system. The delegates will take part in class observations and discussions to share their teaching experience with their Beijing counterparts. They will also visit Lugou Bridge and the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and attend a thematic talk on ¡§One Belt, One Road¡¨ for a better understanding of the history, culture, economy, social infrastructure and future developments of our country.
     As in previous years, the delegates will be received by state leaders and officials of the Ministry of Education, and will attend the flag raising ceremony on National Day. In addition to meeting with relevant officials, Mr Ng will join a gathering with Hong Kong university students pursuing studies in Beijing and Tianjin.  
     Officials accompanying Mr Ng will include the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary for Education, Mr Rick Chan, and the Principal Assistant Secretary (Quality Assurance and School-based Support), Ms Li Mei-fun. The delegation will return to Hong Kong on October 1.

     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
