The City Gallery Summer Planning School 2015 - "Building up our beautiful Hong Kong" event, jointly organised by the Planning Department and City Gallery, was held today (August 22), featuring a giant map of Hong Kong built together with colourful paper blocks made by more than 200 "Little Planners" (senior primary school students) and "Teen Planners" (senior secondary school students) who graduated from the City Gallery Summer Planning School this year.

The Director of Planning, Mr Ling Kar-kan, said at the ceremony, "We cherish public participation and consensus building in the planning process. The objective of the summer planning school programme is to encourage young citizens to understand and participate in town planning and the future development of Hong Kong with an aim to nurture a new generation of young planners."

The "Building up our beautiful Hong Kong" event was the finale activity of the City Gallery Summer Planning School 2015 - "Be a Town Planner". Some 280 students participated in the courses and activities of the summer school held in July and August this summer. The programme was designed to give a general introduction to town planning comprising lectures, field studies and workshops led by professional town planners or people from related fields, in order to provide our young generation with a better understanding of town planning and various aspects of the planning process in Hong Kong. The "Building up our beautiful Hong Kong" giant map as well as the works completed by "Little Planners" and "Teen Planners" will be exhibited at City Gallery till September 21.
