Planning Department completes 2014 Area Assessments of Industrial Land in the Territory
*******************************************************

The Planning Department (PlanD) announced the completion of the 2014 Area Assessments of Industrial Land in the Territory today (August 11).

PlanD in 2000, 2005 and 2009 carried out three rounds of the assessments. The 2014 Area Assessments were the fourth conducted and aimed to examine the latest usage of 1,448 existing privately owned industrial buildings in five land use zonings (about 510 hectares), namely "Industrial", "Other Specified Uses" annotated "Business", "Residential (Group A)", "Residential (Group E)" and "Comprehensive Development Area", in order to more effectively plan and utilise the industrial land resources.

The 2014 Area Assessments mainly involved on-site surveys and questionnaires covering over 75,000 units on the use, business nature and numbers of workers employed. Building age, condition and ownership were also analysed.

The Report on the 2014 Area Assessments is available at PlanD's website (www.pland.gov.hk) for public viewing. The Town Planning Board will be briefed on the findings on August 14.
