Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation (2)

     Hang Ngai Works was fined $40,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (August 10) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 12 last year in Causeway Bay. A worker was suspected to have been electrocuted while conducting scaffolding work on a canopy of a residential building.
