The Government today (August 6) announced the appointment of Mr Leung Ka-wing as Director of Broadcasting, following an open-cum-in-service recruitment exercise. The appointment will take effect from August 7, 2015.
In welcoming Mr Leung's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Clement Cheung, said, "Mr Leung possesses extensive professional knowledge and solid work experience in the media sector as well as proven management abilities. I am confident that he will be able to steer Radio Television Hong Kong forward in meeting new challenges and strive for excellence in delivering quality service to the community."
Brief biographical notes on Mr Leung are set out below:

Aged 62, Mr Leung started his career as a newspaper reporter in 1975. He joined Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) in 1978 and was Managing Editor from 1982 to 1990. He later served as Managing Editor, Mandarin News, of KTSF (Channel 26) in California for three years before returning in 1994 to head TVB News for five years.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr Leung started up ETVision Limited, an Internet TV finance news channel with 90 staff, and headed ET Press, a book publisher, both under the Hong Kong Economic Times Group. He was Vice President/Senior Vice President (News and Public Affairs) of Asia Television Limited from 2007 to 2011 before becoming a freelance consultant and university lecturer.
