A spokesman for the Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (August 6) reminded members of the public that SWD staff would not make telephone calls asking for personal data. When receiving suspicious calls, they should stay alert, discuss the matter with family members and refrain from disclosing any personal information. They should also remind elderly people in the family to be on the alert against deception.
If in doubt, people may call the SWD Hotline at 2343 2255 or relevant SWD offices for enquiries. In case of suspected loss of personal information, they should seek assistance from the Police.
