A new traffic lane at Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) near Scenery Court, constructed under the Road T3 project, opened to traffic today (July 30). This marks the full opening of the carriageway connecting Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) to Tsing Sha Highway.

Commenced in January 2014, the new traffic lane is the last section of works under the Road T3 project. The works comprise a new traffic lane about 80 metres long and the associated noise barriers. The construction cost was about $35 million.

Officiating at the new traffic lane opening ceremony today, Project Manager (New Territories East) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department, Mr Cheng Ting-ning, said that the new traffic lane connecting the slow lane of Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) (southbound) and the slow lane of Tsing Sha Highway (southbound) would enhance the transportation network of Road T3 and alleviate the traffic congestion along Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) during peak hours.

Other officiating guests at the event included the Chairman of the Sha Tin District Council (STDC), Mr Ho Hau-cheung; Vice Chairman of the STDC, Mr Thomas Pang; Chairman of the Sha Tin Rural Committee, Mr Mok Kam-kwai; Chairman of STDC Traffic and Transport Committee, Mr Yiu Ka-chun; and acting District Officer (Sha Tin), Mr Simon Wong.
