CS continues visit to Singapore (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, continued her visit to Singapore today (July 25).

     In the morning, Mrs Lam visited the Singapore Sports Hub, which is a world-class sporting infrastructure for football, athletics, rugby and cricket with community lifestyle and entertainment facilities.

     Speaking during the visit, Mrs Lam said, "The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is committed to promoting the development of sports in Hong Kong and has been devoting resources to developing sports pathways and a comprehensive system with an aim of cultivating elite athletes and encouraging wider community participation in sports activities. The pre-construction works of the Kai Tak Multi-purpose Sports Complex will soon commence. Upon completion in 2021, it will be the largest-ever sports facility in Hong Kong, providing high-quality international sports venues as well as sports facilities and open space for the community."

     After the visit, Mrs Lam paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Mr Chen Xiaodong. Mrs Lam then attended a lunch hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore, Mr Teo Chee Hean. Mrs Lam and Mr Teo exchanged views on forging stronger economic ties between Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a whole. Mrs Lam said, "I am delighted to learn that the fourth round of the ASEAN¡VHong Kong Free Trade Agreement negotiations has been successfully concluded just a few days ago and that good progress has been made. I would like to thank Singapore for hosting the negotiations and the great hospitality extended to the Hong Kong delegation."

     In the afternoon, Mrs Lam participated in the Spotlight Hong Kong in Singapore Festival.

     Mrs Lam will depart for Brunei tomorrow (July 26). On arrival in Brunei, she will visit the Royal Regalia Museum and pay a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Madam Yang Jian. She will also attend a dinner hosted by the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng.
