Review Committee set up by Hong Kong Housing Authority

     The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:
     The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) approved today (July 24) the terms of reference and membership of a review committee which will conduct a health check on the HA's system for quality control and works supervision.

     As approved by the HA, the terms of reference of the Review Committee on Quality Assurance Issues Relating to Fresh Water Supply of Public Housing Estates are:

1. to comprehensively review the present arrangements for quality control and monitoring in relation to the installation of fresh water supply systems in public housing estates;
2. in the process of (1), to critically review various aspects of quality inspection relating to materials used (including prefabricated components), quality inspection and works supervision at different stages of construction; and
3. to report findings to the HA and recommend any improvement in procedures/guidelines and follow-up actions as necessary.

     The members of the committee are Mr Cheung Tat-tong (Chairman), Mr Albert Au Siu-cheung, Mr Stanley Wong Yuen-fai, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Dennis Kwok Wing-hang and Professor Joseph Lee Kok-long.

     The committee will hold its first meeting shortly.
