At a media session after inspecting the polling station, Mr Justice Fung (right) and Mr Arthur Luk, SC (left) show a prop of the envelope of a reminding letter to be issued by the REO at the end of the month to electors who did not respond to inquiry letters. The envelope is beige and stamped with a prominent reminder message, "Immediate action required Your voting right is at stake." The letter intends to alert the recipients to confirm or update their registered residential addresses by returning the reply slip by August 25 in order to maintain their voter registration. The REO issued inquiry letters to about 82 000 electors earlier in accordance with the relevant electoral laws, requesting them to confirm or update their registered residential addresses by the statutory deadline of July 2. Electors who did not respond to the inquiry letters will be included in the Omissions List to be released on July 31 this year. Electors on the Omissions List can reinstate their voter registration under the established mechanism. The REO will issue reminding letters to these electors at the end of this month to remind them to confirm or update their registered residential addresses by returning the reply slip by August 25.
