Working in Hong Kong: London ETO holds seminar on new talent admission measures (with photos)
************************************************************

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) last Thursday (June 25, London time) held a special seminar in London for those interested in working in Hong Kong.

The seminar, co-organised with the Hong Kong Society and hosted by Standard Chartered Bank, aimed to promote the enhancements to the admission arrangements for talent, professionals and entrepreneurs implemented in May. The seminar also highlighted the pilot scheme for the second generation of Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents. These new measures were announced in the 2015 Policy Address, with the aim of recruiting talent and professionals from outside Hong Kong more proactively.

Director-General of the London ETO, Ms Erica Ng, provided an update on the economic and employment situation, as well as the latest opportunities in various sectors in Hong Kong. A representative from the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government also spoke at the seminar and answered questions on the enhancement measures. Senior members of the Hong Kong Society talked about working life in Hong Kong, and a representative of a leading recruitment agency gave a summary of job opportunities in Hong Kong.

Ms Ng said that in view of the rapid expansion of many companies in the financial services and business and professional services sectors, as well as the blossoming start-up sector, overseas talent and entrepreneurs interested to work in Hong Kong would be able to tap the new growth opportunities in these sectors. She welcomed and encouraged participants in the seminar with valuable skills and experience, including those second-generation of Hong Kong people, to go to Hong Kong and explore first-hand the plentiful opportunities and development potentials in the city.

The London seminar was the first in a series of events to be held across Europe to promote the enhanced talent admission measures, with more upcoming events to be held in Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Antwerp, Barcelona and Dublin in the next few days.
