LandsD takes further enforcement action against unlawful occupation of parts of Tim Mei Avenue, Legislative Council Road and Harcourt Road (with photos)
***********************************************************

The Lands Department (LandsD) today (June 24) removed marquees, tents and other property unlawfully occupying unleased land on the pavement of the relevant parts of Tim Mei Avenue, Legislative Council Road and Harcourt Road under the Land (Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 28 of the Laws of Hong Kong).

LandsD posted a statutory notice on-site on June 22, requiring the parties concerned to cease the unlawful occupation and clean up the marquees, tents and other property before June 24. As the unlawful occupation continued after the deadline, the department took further enforcement action today.

During the operation, a total of 27 marquees and tents, together with other property, were removed. According to section 6(3) of the Ordinance, any structure, property and thing of which possession is so taken shall become the property of the Government. They will not be returned, and may be dealt with as the authorities think fit.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has also arranged street cleaning of the area after the clearance operation.
